TRANSFORMING THE EUROPEAN GOLF INDUSTRY

Lindö GK is established on land leased from Lindö Säteri, land originally owned by family Anckarström. Björn Borg Sports Club launches with golf, conference, and future hospitality plans.

The site is renamed Stockholm Lindö Park and expands to include hospitality and real estate. An Investor acquires the Company and recruits future founders Stefan Brikell and Tony Trigell.

The Company builds a new golf course on the Lindö Park facility and launch a joint residential development project of 45 houses with JM and PEAB which is sold quickly.

A merger with Kårstabygden Golf creates Capital Golf AB. Strong sales of playing rights funded the construction of Riksten and Lövsättra golf courses on new locations almost entirely with its own capital. The company now owned 3 facilities with 5 golf courses.

Capital Golf concept “one membership, several courses“, drives rapid membership growth from 3,000 to 6,000 members. The Company acquires Lindö GK and begins managing Viksbergs GK, bringing the total to 4 facilities and 6 golf courses.

Founders Tony Tigell and Stefan Brikell together buy out other owners to accelerate growth and a capital injection is secured to scale the successful multi-course membership model. Capital Golf is eventually renamed to Unipeg Golf.

The Group expands and during 2012-2016 acquires new courses including Waxholm, Bodaholm, and Gripsholm. Late 2016 the Group acquires rival Swedish TopTee and rebrands as GolfStar. GolfStar is streamlined to focus solely on golf operations, like SkiStar or SATS in their industries, bringing the total of managed golf courses to 18 in the Stockholm area.

After a major reorganisation, GolfStar emerges leaner and stronger. COVID increased memberships and greenfee sales and the same time the Company sells land assets, cutting debt by ~200 SEKm, while maintaining ownership and management of the golf courses.

GolfStar remains the consumer-facing brand, while Caddies Europe AB becomes the new group name. New brands like TopTee Greenkeeping, Greenfee Outlet and Cloud GC gain traction externally, motivating their own business plans and management. Caddies enters a new strategic 5-year plan as a golf group structured as an investment company.

GolfStar takes the first step into Europe by acquiring 4 facilities and 2 golf courses in Finland, and one Spain. Late 2024 GolfStar also expands in Sweden by acquiring 2 golf courses in Gothenburg.

OnTag is acquired from Tietoevry to expand the tech offering and form the foundation of the business area Golf Tech Solutions. Late 2025 The Bucket Pros is acquired to strengthen the strategic focus on driving ranges and expands Caddies presence in Iberia, joining OnTag in the business area.
