Mattias Brännholm new communications director at GolfStar!

Mattias Brännholm is the new communications director at Caddies Europe AB, which owns GolfStar.

“We have a vision of what the customer experience of the future will look like. To create it, we need strategic competence on several levels, such as communication, marketing and golf experience. Therefore, I am very happy that Mattias is joining the Caddies Group and GolfStar”, says founder and CEO Tony Trigell.

Mattias Brännholm is a well-known name in Golf Sweden. Mattias started playing golf in Östersund as an 11-year-old. After communications and television training in Los Angeles, USA, Mattias worked for almost 20 years at SVT sport and was also a regular contributor to the magazine Svensk Golf.

For the past fifteen years, he has run his own consulting business in digital marketing, communication, storytelling and film production. One of the biggest customers has been the Swedish Golf Association, where Mattias was responsible for the production of Pitch – SGF’s strategic communication concept for developing operations at Swedish golf clubs for four seasons.

In the spring, Mattias got a job as club manager at Halmstad Golfklubb – but was fired in public on his first day of work.

“I am very grateful that the board of Halmstad GK fumbled Mattias, because it really did. I had gotten to know Mattias during the spring and you don’t have to spend much time with him to understand his expertise in both non-profit and commercial golf operations on so many different levels. Add to that his experience in communications, marketing and everything else he has done. I was going to offer Mattias the job when I heard that he got the job as CEO at Halmstad GK. When I read the news that Mattias had been dismissed, I contacted him the next day,” says founder and CEO Tony Trigell and continues:

“There are more and more golfers. Our vision extends beyond Sweden, it also includes the Nordic countries and Spain. And it is really very simple: to meet the golfer in a contemporary way and create opportunities for them to consume golf as they want. In order to succeed in this, we believe that golf knowledge is not enough, but that other, more professional qualities are required, such as, for example, strategic communication and digital business intelligence,” says Tony.

“The more I learn about the parent company Caddies Europe and the subsidiary GolfStar’s business concept and vision, the more interested and fascinated I become. For example, I had no idea that Caddies / Golfstar can help external golf facilities with course maintenance. I am passionate about developing golf and that as many people as possible should be able to experience, consume and enjoy golf in a way that suits them. If you think about all the developments with indoor golf, digital experiences on the range and various forms of membership and changes in behavior over the past fifteen years, with GolfStar there are extraordinary opportunities and potential to develop the golf offer of the future, says Mattias Brännholm and continues:

“I find it hard to imagine a more enjoyable job than communicating these in the right way going forward. I’m looking forward to being part of this team and the journey we’re about to take,” says Mattias Brännholm.
